g2 loses coach perkz after incendiary post as worlds woes mount

The incendiary post

On November 4, former League of Legends prodigy Luka “Perkz” Perković posted a 2,676‑word essay on X, branding it his “first and last honest post” in a decade. The lengthy manifesto dove into his religious convictions, denounced abortion as murder, and clarified that he does not back Andrew or Tristan Tate, former G2 CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez, or Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that is a murder, as life is created at conception,” he wrote. “That is one view I will die by and never change.

The backlash was immediate. Within hours, G2 Esports announced the termination of Perkz’s head‑coach contract.

While the world is complex and not everyone agrees on everything, some of the statements made last night do not align with G2’s stance and values.

G2 added an apology, acknowledging the hurt caused to fans. After the dismissal, Perkz posted a Bible verse (Luke 6:22) about being hated and separated from one’s company. By November 6, his X account had vanished, erasing both the original essay and his follow‑up. His Instagram, Twitch, and YouTube channels remain untouched, but no further public comment has emerged.

Worlds collapse

The team entered the Group Stage of the $5 million, Tier‑S LAN event with a five‑man roster: Hans sama, Caps, BrokenBlade, Labrov, and SkewMond. Their opening match on October 23 saw a 0‑1 defeat to Dplus KIA.

October 25 brought a 0‑1 loss to Top Esports, and the final group outing on October 30 ended in a 0‑2 sweep by Hanwha Life Esports. The record stands at one win and three losses, with a 1‑4 map tally and a two‑match losing streak to finish the stage.

What’s next for g2

With the Group Stage over and the playoffs looming from November 3‑15, G2’s focus has shifted to rebuilding. The organization confirmed plans to revamp its coaching staff and reshape the roster once free agency officially opens. No replacement for Perkz has been named, and the team’s future lineup remains uncertain.
