Gentle Mates GC storms to grand final as KRÜ Blaze claws into lower final

Gentle Mates GC clinched a spot in the VCT Game Changers Championship grand final with a gritty 2‑1 series win over Shopify Rebellion Gold, while KRÜ Blaze survived a do‑or‑die lower‑semifinal by sweeping MIBR GC 2‑0. Both victories reshaped the tournament’s final bracket and set the stage for a showdown on November 1.

Upper final showdown

Map two, Sunset, saw the tables turn. Shopify again raced ahead, 7‑2, thanks to Noia’s Chamber play and a flawless pistol round. Gentle Mates’ double‑duelist combo of Breach and Fade, backed by Neon and Omen, began to bite. Defender Nami anchored the backline, trimming the deficit to 7‑5.

Summit proved the turning point. Shopify claimed the opening pistol, but Gentle Mates’ Harbor‑Cypher lineup, led by safiaa’s sharp reads, halted the early onslaught. At 5‑3 the EMEA squad grabbed their first halftime lead of the series, later expanding to 7‑5 as Shopify’s post‑plant execution faltered. The 2‑1 series win (13‑11, 13‑11, 13‑10) catapults Gentle Mates GC into the grand final with an unbeaten 3‑0 playoff record (6‑1 on maps).

Lower bracket survival

Across the bracket, KRÜ Blaze faced MIBR GC in a best‑of‑three. The first map mirrored the upper final’s drama: KRÜ’s double‑duelist Phoenix‑Neon combo gave MIBR early trouble, but Sova ace from ponix steadied the half, narrowing the gap to 7‑5. Switching sides, KRÜ’s Sage‑Chamber defense locked down, and a late surge secured a 13‑11 victory.

Abyss, map two, showcased KRÜ’s strategic depth. MIBR’s surprise Waylay pick failed to gain traction, while KRÜ’s lone Jett paired with a double‑initiator defense built a 5‑2 lead. MIBR rallied to 6‑6, but KRÜ’s second pistol round pushed them into double‑digit territory. A clutch eco round sealed the map 13‑11, delivering a clean 2‑0 series sweep (13‑11, 13‑11) and keeping KRÜ Blaze alive for a lower‑final showdown against Shopify Rebellion Gold.

What’s next

Gentle Mates GC now awaits the lower‑bracket victor, with the grand final slated for November 1 in a best‑of‑5 showdown for the $500,000 prize pool. KRÜ Blaze, riding a two‑match winning streak, will meet Shopify Rebellion Gold in the lower final on October 31, fighting for the last ticket to the championship match.

Both squads have demonstrated resilience: Gentle Mates by overturning early deficits on two maps, and KRÜ Blaze by capitalising on defensive compositions and clutch pistol rounds.
