KRÜ BLAZE claims first GCC title with 3-2 win over Gentle Mates GC

KRÜ BLAZE turned a second‑match loss into a historic triumph, emerging from the lower bracket to hoist the Game Changers Championship for the first time ever. Their 3‑2 victory over Gentle Mates GC in São Paulo capped a relentless run that saw them dismantle three of the region’s biggest powerhouses.

The lower‑bracket grind

After dropping to the losers’ side, KRÜ BLAZE faced SRG in a best‑of‑five showdown that would decide who advanced to the Grand Final. The series began on SRG’s favored Sunset, where the double‑Sentinel, Sage‑Chamber comp handed Noia nine Operator kills and a 13‑6 win. Undeterred, KRÜ switched to Summit, a map that had recently troubled SRG. An early 10‑2 surge propelled them to another 13‑6 triumph, sealing a 2‑0 lead.

SRG’s star duelist dodonut racked up 45 kills and a 10‑1 first‑engagement record, but KRÜ clawed back in the second half, pulling five straight rounds to close the map 13‑8 and narrow the gap to one map.

The decisive fourth map, Ascent, featured a clash of strategies: SRG’s Neon‑Phoenix double‑duelist line‑up versus KRÜ’s KAY/O‑Sova double‑initiator duo with Vyse as the lone Sentinel. After a dead‑heat 6‑6 split on attack, the teams exchanged defense and attack rounds, pushing the game into overtime.

Grand Final showdown

The championship clash opened on Gentle Mates GC’s chosen map, Haven. M8’s aggressive double‑duelist composition surged ahead, delivering a 13‑5 rout. KRÜ BLAZE answered on Abyss, deploying the same KAY/O‑Sova pairing that had carried them through the lower bracket. The LATAM side poured out a map‑high 25 kills, dominated first‑bloods 9‑2 and closed the round 13‑5, evening the series.

The final map saw Gentle Mates GC tighten their defense, limiting KRÜ to six attack rounds while securing a 13‑8 win and forcing the fifth showdown.

KRÜ BLAZE finished the playoffs with five wins and a single loss, posting a 12‑6 map record. Their current roster—mmonch, antG, micaela, poniX, nonee, dods and tok1o—has now turned a four‑match winning streak into championship glory, ending the tournament as the undisputed Game Changers champions.
